My journey to essential oils started several years ago. When my husband and I got married, our plan was to let me finish my college degree before we started having children…which for us meant that I was on birth control for 1 year. When I went off birth control pills, I had a terrible time physically and mentally. I went to the doctor a few times because of anxiety, shakiness, and generally feeling like something was just not right. It was scary…I did not feel like myself and several time I wondered if I was going to die. I wondered if having been on the artificial hormones had caused these symptoms.
A few years later, we still had not been able to get pregnant. I had seen a fertility specialist, had several tests, taken fertility drugs, and had an ectopic pregnancy. We really wanted to start our family. We were so blessed to be able to adopt our first child and believed that we would build our family through adoption…an experience that I will always be grateful for. We believed that we would grow our family through adoption and I was excited.
I continued reading about health and learned a lot about all the chemicals in our environment and food. I started taking progesterone cream because after some research I had done, I believed that I had a hormone imbalance…much to our surprise I became pregnant after one month of using the cream.
I became interested making some of my own household cleaners and cooking mostly from scratch in order to eliminate chemicals in my life. I even tried eliminating meat from our diet…although my husband wasn’t very excited about that so it didn’t last long.
Fast forward…I started hearing about essential oils and my curiosity was peaked but I hadn’t taken the plunge. Then one summer, my 10 year old daughter cut her leg pretty bad while we were on vacation. My sister-in-law gave me several samples of essential oils to use on her leg. I was hooked…this was another step towards a healthy lifestyle.
There are so many companies to choose from, it can be hard to filter through all the information. I spent a year reading and researching about different companies. I didn’t want to join an MLM company, it wasn’t my style. But I kept coming back to the 2 top essential oils companies…which both happen to be MLM companies. After more consideration and study, I choose to go with one of them…and I haven’t been disappointed.
I didn’t realize how often I would use the oils…it is unusual for me to go even one day without using the oils in some way.
